I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings Timeline Maya Angelou biography
Chap.1: Maya and Bailey go to live in Stamps, Arkansas with Momma and Uncle Willie.Chap.2: Uncle Willie pretends not to be crippled, so he can make a good impression on some schoolteachers from Little Rock.
Chap.3: Uncle Willie has to hid in the onion crate from the "boys".
Chap.4: One of Momma's friends comments on how ugly Maya is, so Bailey say that her son looked sick and when she asks with what, he says the Uglies.
Chap.5: The powhitetrash come to the store and start harrassing Momma and then one of them does a cartwheel and she doesn't have any other undergarments on, but Momma just ignores them and keeps her calm.
Chap.6: Sister Monroe starts acting like a crazy person in church, saying "Preach It! I said Preach It!".
Chap.7: Momma and Uncle Willie hid a man in their chifforobe from the Ku Klux Klan.
Chap.8: Bailey and Maya's parents send them Christmas presents.
Chap.9: Daddy Bailey comes to Stamps to take Maya and Bailey to St. Louis, Missourri to live with their mother.
Chap.10: Maya and Bailey meet their mother and the other side of their family.
Chap.11: Mr. Freeman sexually molestes Maya.
Chap.12: Mr. Freeman Rapes Maya.
Chap.13: Maya gets taken to the hospital and then later on she has to testify against Mr. Freeman in court.
Chap.14: Maya and Bailey get sent back to Stamps.
Chap.15: Maya meets Mrs. Flowers.
Chap.16: Maya goes to work for Mrs. Cullinan, who isults Maya by calling her Mary, so Maya breaks Mrs. Cullinan's mother's Viginia China.
Chap.17: Bailey gets in trouble for staying out late to see a movie.
Chap.18: All of the African-American's in Stamps go to a revival meeting held in a tent.
Chap.19: All of the African-Americans in Stamps go to Momma's store to listen to the boxing matchon the radio between a white man and a black man.
Chap.20: Maya recieves her first Valentine.
Chao.21:Bailey plays "house" with some girls from school.
Chap.22: Mr. taylor comes to Momma's store one night, claiming he had seen his dead wife's ghost.
Chap.23: Maya graduates from eighth grade.
Chap.24: Maya gets a toothache, so Momma takes who to the white dentist in Stamps, who refuses to see her, so they have to go to Texicana.
Chap.25: Bailey sees an African-American man's dead body being pulled out of a lake.
Chap.26: Momma takes Bailey and Maya to California to live with Mother Dear.
Chap.27: WW2 hits San Fransisco, California.
Chap.28: Maya goes to George Washington High School.
Chap.29: Roomers rent rooms in Maya's house.
Chap.30: Maya goes to Daddy Baileys for the summer and he takes her to Mexico.
Chap.31: Maya gets into a fight with Dolores(her dad's girlfriend).
Chap.32: Maya runs away from her dad's friends house and lives in a junkyard with some other kids.
Chap.33: When Maya goes back home, Mother Dear and Bailey get into a fight and Bailey moves out.
Chap.34: Maya gets a job as a streetcar conductor after three weeks of trying.
Chap.35: Maya thinks that she is a lesbian, so she goes out and has sexual intercourse with a boy to prove that she isn't.
Chap.36: Maya gets pregnant and has a baby boy.
